Visual search is going to be a critical part of search in the future. And being able to search based on an image is also going to be huge for retail. Think of walking down the street, seeing someone wearing something you like, snapping a pic and then searching for it with your phone. Sounds far fetched, but it could be possible in the future.
I'm starting to use Google Goggles myself and I spent over $300 at a Wal-Mart thanks to price checking on my barcode scanner. There's a great deal of information available to people now thanks to smart phones & tablet PC's and people are starting to expect it available. Don't think I'm right? Watch a couple of tweens go shopping these days.
Visual search will change the way we engage the world around us, just you wait & see.
