"Children and teenagers may be more susceptible to health issues associated with viewing in 3D and should be closely supervised when viewing these images.""Pregnant women, the elderly, sufferers of serious medical conditions, those who are sleep deprived or under the influence of alcohol should avoid utilizing the unit's 3D functionality." (Hey, since most of the content is sports, are they really suggesting that you can't drink & watch 3D football? What's the point of that? DBP)
A few weekends back, Sydney & I went to go see HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON. in 3D. We both enjoyed the movie and thought that it was a lot of fun. It's gotten good reviews and the night that we saw it, the theater was full.
The problem is that while we enjoyed the movie, neither of us felt that it was worth the additional money to see it in 3D. We think we would've enjoyed it just fine being in 2D. And when you go to something like The Illustrated 3D Movie List and see what's being planned for 3D, I start to worry we're about to burn out the 3D cycle again.
Sure, I would probably pay extra money to see TRON in 3D, but I'm a Tron geek who used to play the Tron video games all the time. But would I pay extra to see Step Up or STREETDANCE 3D?
Unfortunately, Hollywood sees that something works and then beats it to death until it has no value any more. We've already been through the 3D cycle several times and, if we're not careful, we could see it fade away again. 3D can't be used just get an additional $4/ticket, it has to help move the story forward. Most of the movies I saw on the list didn't seem to matter if they were in 2D or 3D. The audience won't stand for being taken advantage of for to long.
